Hating an “Anti-hate” Org

Sited in NYC & London, and cited by mainstream media, the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) is a corporate-style NGO, another of the supposedly harmless, supposedly “public-service” orgs that now hyper-populate western societies with propaganda of their own manufacture.

So why would I hate them? Because their self-description reveals the operational methodology of censorship. Censorship of groups that they characterize as “fringe movements.” Here’s an quote from their website (https://www.counterhate.com/about-us) : “Digital spaces – forming an important new plane of human existence – have been colonised and their unique dynamics exploited by fringe movements that instrumentalise hate and misinformation. These movements are opportunistic, agile and confident in exerting influence and persuading people.”

Question: Who bloody decides on the definition of “fringe movement”? Is a movement to socialize enterprise, at least by promoting worker collective ownership a fringe movement? Is a vociferous anti-US militarism group like Code Pink a fringe movement? After all, neither pro-worker collectives nor anti-militarism voices feature prominently in standard media discourse. So they must be fringe, right? By implication, the message is: think only mainstream thoughts. Original thinking disapproved. perhaps even forbidden.

The US constitution protects my right to critique my country’s war machine as well as its demonstrably corrupt, unequal economic system. When exactly do those criticisms become fringe? How is systemic change possible without stentorian voices on the margins of society?

“The Center’s work combines both analysis and active disruption of these networks,” the CCDH’s website informs us. So, it’s not just discourse and counter discourse, but “active disruption”. So another question: Based on whose authority exactly?

Who are these folks? Simple, they’re self-appointed CENSORS. NGO, my ass — this is just a thinly veiled censorship organization amid an entire cadre of them professing their good intentions while advocating for the repression of free speech.

Either speech is free or it’s being censored. And because the remaining tiny smattering of it represents what’s left of “democracy”, I say “va fa in culo” to the CCDH. Welcome to the Bumrack. No refrigeration — Happy dessication and decomposition, Censor!
