Smell something rotten this Christmas, America? It’s the smell of the dead Palestinians we killed with our support for Israel. It’s the reek of our complicity in genocide and ethnic cleansing. It’s the foul odor of our claim that self-defense allows Israel to massacre more than 20,000 civilians. It’s the stench of our corrupt and cowardly Congress whose members stand with Israel, their backing bought with campaign contributions from AIPAC and coerced with threats to remove them from the government gravy train with a primary. We Americans could demand that the US stop the slaughter today by cutting Israel off from American weapons, American money, and American support at the UN. But we Americans say nothing and allow the killing to go on. Our country is just a giant pathetic puppet whose strings are pulled by little Israel. Our democracy is just a joke whose punchline is that your elected officials are more loyal to Israel than to the American people. But we don’t think about that. We ignore the death and destruction in Gaza and the contempt our government has for us. We’ll celebrate the holidays knowing that no one is going to bomb us out of existence while we sing carols and visit our friends and relatives.
Merry Christmas, America – we stink.
